"Melabev At Home"
Professional services specializing in dementia and Alzheimer's provided in the home of older adults
Aging in Place
Did you do any of these today: Get out of bed? Bathe? Dress? Eat a meal?
We take these simple life tasks for granted. But seniors with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can do few if any of these tasks without assistance.
With every other person over the age of 85 living with dementia, there is a growing and urgent need for dedicated community care to ensure the security and quality of life for this valuable population.
97% of older adults choose to age in place, with only 3% opting to relocate to an assisted living facility or nursing home. This requires us to rethink the process of aging at home and provide solutions specific to people living with dementia who are often lacking activity at home and cannot always leave their homes to enjoy services offered in the community. Making these services accessible to these individuals allows us to provide equal and individualized opportunity for a life of dignity for people living with dementia.

Melabev At Home
“Melabev At Home” provides therapeutic services and psychosocial support to older adults living at home through weekly professional therapies, volunteer visits, and individualized intervention and guidance in all aspects of the aging process by a licensed social worker.
The Purpose
The purpose of this program is to return a sense of self and meaning to people who are experiencing dementia or Alzheimer’s and offer support to their family members as they travel this new and frightening journey.
The social worker serves as a case manager for the individual and their family (when relevant), a source of information and guidance through this tumultuous phase in their lives. This cuts down on unnecessary bureaucracy and confusion while the therapists provide life changing care, and the volunteers aid to combat loneliness.

The Program
Alzheimer’s destroys the mind and in the process ravages the very “self,” impairing memory, speech, mobility, and social skills. Melabev works to preserve the “self” for people with Alzheimer’s. The motivated, dedicated, and caring professional staff conducts a wide range of therapeutic and dignified activities for people with Alzheimer’s symptoms at all levels of their functioning.
Activities include dance, art, music, gardening, animal therapy, bibliotherapy (text based therapies), cooking/baking, as well as mental stimulation with challenging cognitive and memory exercises.
Keeping the person engaged in meaningful activities and at their skill level will help them to age in place – the process of growing old in one’s own home. The unfamiliarity of a nursing home or assisted living facility cannot compare to the many benefits of a stable and familiar at-home aging process.
