Melabev 2024 Hike for Alzheimer's Care

When: Thursday, 19 September 2024

In 2004, Melabev initiated our first Hike for Alzheimer’s Care, a unique and fun fundraising event to benefit older adults in our day centers.

Over the years, hundreds of people of all ages, from Israel and abroad, hiked with us throughout Israel.

Join us in this critical endeavor by sponsoring a hiker or participating in the hike by taking a commitment of your own and registering for the Melabev Hike for Alzheimer’s Care 2024.

(hike details below)

What we are offering: This year, Melabev’s hike will be one day of moderate hiking. We’ll enjoy a Morning hike in the Jerusalem Hills – meeting at the Yad Kennedy Memorial. Hike down through Hirbat Saadim along the Springs trail. After a lunch break, we will travel by bus to Mitzpe Jericho to view the Jordan River Valley and recall the end of Moses’s life on Mt. Nevo and the giving over of the reins to Yehoshua Bin Nun. We will visit Kasr el Yehud, the site where Yehoshua Bin Nun crossed with Bnai Yisrael into Israel. Here, we will recall how the mighty Jordon River split and how Yehoshua organized his troops to conquer Jericho and the rest of Israel. We will also glimpse into Jordan and its relationship with Israel since 1994 until today. From here, time permitting, we will go to the date fields. Then, it’s off to tour the unique formations along the northern end of the Dead Sea formed by the receding sea level. The day ends with a delicious Kosher slow-cooked meat dinner under the stars. From here, we return to the starting point and back to our cars.

Registration fee: 600 NIS per person. 400 NIS -Early registration by 15 August.

Personal Sponsorship goals:
