Melabev's Hike 2022

Join us this year for the 40th anniversary celebrations of Melabev

In 2004, “The Friends of Melabev” initiated the first Hike for Alzheimer’s Care, a unique and fun fundraising event that raises much-needed funds for the benefit of the seniors in our day centers.

Over the years, hundreds of people, of all ages from Israel and abroad, hiked with us throughout Israel.

Join us in this critical endeavor by sponsoring a hiker, or participating in the hike by taking a commitment of your own and register for Melabev’s 2022 Hike for Alzheimer’s Care – especially this year, as Melabev is celebrating its 40 year anniversary.

When: Thursday, 24 March 2022

What we are offering: This year, Melabev’s hike will be one day. We’ll enjoy a half-day of hiking on easy nature paths and a half-day of sightseeing. Melabev will strictly follow the Health Ministry COVID guidelines.

About the hike:

We will leave Jerusalem early in the morning and head to Zichron Yaakov. There we will begin the day at the beautiful Ramat Hanadiv Gardens and nature park dedicated to the memory of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. A review in the January 13th issue of the Haaretz Newspaper stated that Ramat Hanadiv could easily win the prize for the prettiest Nature Reserve in Israel. After visiting the gardens, we will continue on the paths of the surrounding nature reserve for spectacular scenic views and fascinating sites. The spring wildflowers should be amazing. We will hike the Vulture Trail and learn how Israel is helping increase the population of this endangered species. From here, we walk to the Mansur el Aqeb ancient farming house with its incredible panoramic view and explore a building from the Second Temple Period, including its wine and olive presses. From there, we will reach the Ein Tzur ancient aqueduct and spring as we hike along the Cross Israel Trail.

At the end of our hike, we head into Zichron Yaakov, a lovely historical town – celebrating the 140th anniversary of its establishment – for a walking tour of this quaint and beautiful town and a glimpse at the much-overlooked First Aliyah.

Now, we are ready for a rest and some local wine tasting. We will have a group dinner before departing for Jerusalem by 19:00.

Join us and register – no registration fee, but hikers are required to take a fundraising commitment amount of 3600 ILS (or more).

To ensure your place on the hike, we ask that a minimum of 15% of the commitment amount – 540 ILS – be raised by 24 February, 2022.

All donations will receive a tax-deductible receipt – IL ₪; US $; Aus $; Can $, UK £
